Black Mold Found In Florida Homes

Black Mold Found In Florida Homes. Black mold is found in Florida homes even if no interior flooding or water damage event occurs. All mold takes to grow, reproduce and form black mold colonies is moisture. With the high relative humidity in Florida, that provides mold spores enough moisture to grow in environments that are not heated by the sun where the moisture can be evaporated into the air. This is why you don’t typically find mold growing in areas hit highly by light, light evaporates the moisture mold requires in order to grow and reproduce. In the pictures below, mold formed in this condo just because the owners left for the summer and turned off their air conditioning unit. AC units are essentially large dehumidifiers. When warm air runs over cold coils, condensation occurs which draws the moisture out of the air. Even though the air is cold that comes out of your AC vents, it is also dry. Without a dehumidifier or an AC unit running in Florida, this moisture or humidity in the air will attach itself to Florida building materials and the mold spores will find the moisture and also feed. This will cause mold growth as severe as you see in the pictures below. If you have mold or see mold or mildew growing inside of your home or business, give us a call today!
